Saturday 10am Sat Feb 24th

To make room for next years stock from our field-growing beds we are selling off most remaining old potted workshop material at bargain prices, together with some larger coniferous material root-balled fresh-lifted from our field bed.

UNDER THE PERGOLA AREA!

First come first served. (worth making a note in your diary)

Dear Bonsai Enthusiast,

Bonsai new “home” Consultancy service

After 33 years running Azalea Bonsai Nursery (now Ltd) Michael Lambrix and Howard Brown have decided to introduce a further service until now not available. As an initial trial to respond to public demand he has offered to travel to customers homes to offer:

1. Workshop /styling on select bonsai.

2. Help and advice on design, health, pruning and repotting.

3. Security and display of bonsai. 4. Comprehensive training day.

Field Trees

Throughout the dormant season (November to March) established trees in our retail bed next to the shop will be root-undercut and additional stock from our main field will be transferred to this bed. All the hard work of digging and root pruning will have been done, so these trees can be root-wrapped ready to pot and begin the bonsai process.

All trees are mature stocky material age ranging from 10 to 30 years old, and represent a huge saving over established and refined bonsai.

Autumn/Winter Notes

0-10-10 autumn/winter feed without nitrogen will strengthen trunks and roots to better resist damage by excess winter rains and frost. During winter, deciduous trees should not be fed (or over-watered). whilst evergreens can be fed fortnightly with 0-10-10 as well as with reduced rate solids such as Bio-gold & Rape meal.

Trees left outside over winter should ideally be dewired to avoid damage by frost. Those remaining wired will benefit from some frost protection in a cold greenhouse, as well as certain tender species. Sub-tropical & tropical types will all require some heating to recreate conditions nearest to their natural habitat.

‘Preventative’ sprays of lime sulphur, fungicide or insecticide may also be appropriate for some trees.
