Text Box: Take a small bonsai, a grass planting  or just a clump of bamboo or tall grass, add an animal figurine or perhaps a person of interest and you have creation that bring out a smile  on the face of every adult or child that looks at the creation.  We saw these first in a Copy of Bonsai Today magazine a couple of years ago.  This isn’t  serious bonsai, it’s just  pure creativity. 
   We are asking anyone attending the 06 Day of Bonsai to consider  creating a figurine planting.  No rules, just fun and creativity.  We will show all the figurine Text Box: Bonsai Today Magazine Issue 95 January & February 2005 has a wonderful article on Bonsai & Figurines.  I will bring a copy of that issue to  the February meeting .  As I said this isn’t serious bonsai just a way to try and be creative by not being held to rigid rules.
   Leo Fortner will be doing a lecture on Tray Landscapes at the Day of Bonsai 06. The Planting with figurines will be a nice addition to this presentation.

  It’s still  difficult to locate any “ I need it fast “ bonsai supplies. You still have to plan ahead and mail order or internet  buy  most of what you will need.   
  The nice thing now is the average bonsai artist can get on a internet site and post a picture of any bonsai in their collection to be seen by lots and lots of

Information and supplies. 
  Information about bonsai is available in vast quantities with new books being published very often. The internet is a door into a vast world of bonsai and bonsai how to information.  Most of the information is good, some excellent.  With a large group of local bonsai artist to call and ask questions you can always get an opinion  about 


Text Box: other artist.  Before the internet many bonsai artist with very good bonsai were never known beyond their local city.  A lifetime of work would be created then with the death of the artist disappear with only a few people ever viewing  and appreciating the years and years of hard work. If you want to be seen, you can now, by many, many people.      Joe Day

     Different than My years
Text Box: entrance, have bonsai lectures inside at 10 A.M. and 2 P.M.  Last year Fred, Joe Kuhn and Leo gave the lectures. The lecture room was full for both the morning and evening lectures.  We will need ACBS members to give the lectures this year.  To get publicity  started quickly we will need to know the name of our 06 lecture

  The 06 Regional Library Show will be a larger show than the 05 show. If you want to show your bonsai let  Joe Kuhn know ASAP.

Text Box: Last year we began the library show with dark clouds, blowing rain and a real chill in the air but lots of people were looking at the bonsai as soon as we sat them on the tables. This year we can hope for better weather and another great day talking with lots of people about bonsai.  We will show bonsai under the deep set back at the front

Text Box: The Pensacola Gulf Coast Bonsai Society will hold a Spring Bonsai Auction March 2nd at their normal meeting site, the Gulf Breeze Library. The Auction  will start at 7:30 P.M. This is a wonderful fun auction. As with all bonsai auctions you never know what will show up but some nice bonsai items can always be found.
