Text Box: Styling a bonsai is a very complex subject. Most bonsai material has multiple ways it can be used to create a good bonsai. It is always the choice of the owner/artist as to what design the material will follow. Russell Coker will present a program on Style for our final Bonsai School series. Russell spent the better part of two years working at a bonsai park in Japan. This intense work-study course in Japan gave Russell an excellent eye for bonsai style. If the old and funky slide projector we have available works well we will see some excellent slides from those years in Japan. We will follow up the February program with two members workshops for March and April. This will give every member an excellent chance to put to use the design knowledge we pick up at the February ACBS meeting. Text Box: Ben Oki Recap Text Box: My count was 34 people at the Ben Oki workshop. ACBS and Ben certainly appreciate the great turn out. The workshop trees were all high quality. All the trees from this workshop can become excellent bonsai . Thanks to our President, Joe Kuhn, the coffee, other drinks and food were excellent. We Text Box: had more trees in the workshop than normal so the workshop was over a bit later than normal. The fast clean up with the help of many people was very helpful in getting everyone home as soon as possible. Our next workshop with a master will be Suthin Sukosolvisit.
