Text Box: The role of a individual bonsai artist and the role of a bonsai club member are not the same. The primary reason is as an individual bonsai artist you are free to do whatever you please with your trees, where and how you teach and how you display your bonsai. As a bonsai club member what happens with the selection of shows, how the shows are set up, who teaches and how things are taught reflect on the good name of the bonsai society. The club can’t do what’s good for each club member individually. The best interest of the bonsai club, the name and reputation of the club must override any individual I

Text Box: interest. A bonsai club member has the right to promote his or her artistic talent any way they desire but they can’t use the name of their bonsai society as part of their individual endeavors.
The reason ACBS has a advisor board and frequent board meeting open to all members is to work out any and all questions related to ACBS activities.
Every bonsai artist should be free to be the best artist they can be and free to do whatever makes them a better artist.
The role of a bonsai society is to
Text Box: promote the art of bonsai by teaching and showing bonsai to the membership and to the public. The membership of the bonsai society must support the activities of their society but every member has the right to not participate in any event for their own personal reasons.
ACBS has never had a problem with a member misusing the name of the society or doing any thing that would reflect badly on the society. This article is just to remind the membership that membership in any society carries with it certain responsibilities and privileges.

Text Box: Actually this make a nice bonsai” her come back was “ don’t you think you should start with something a bit smaller”
I couldn’t find much reason to smile at this point so I said “ I’ve been doing bonsai for 25 years , this will make a nice one” . She kind of shook her head and said

Text Box: “ If you say so….You might,, actually know what you are doing. She walked off and disappeared into the crowd.
True story. Wrote it down as soon as I got home.
As she walked off I did smile and think to myself. That’s the wife and probably mother to someone….thank god it isn’t me. Joe Day
Text Box: I went to the Botanical garden plant sale. I was picking up a Wisteria when a nice lady walked up and said “So you want something that will just fill up your whole yard” I smiled and said “ No, actually I’m getting this to make a bonsai” her reply was “as if you could actually do that” I pushed out another small smile and said “

Text Box: My home phone had a small background noise that grew with each rain. When it became a roar I called Bell South Repair. The lady answered with this “ are you on this line Mr. Day, I can hardly hear you over all the noise” I answered with “You will have to talk very loud for me to hear you” her reply was “ are you calling about a problem with your phone?’” I replied “ yes” very loud. She came back with “ What seems to be the problem?” ………
