Text Box: Thanks first to mother nature who provided the great, great weather for the day. We had a great crowd, the largest ever for the day. I counted 55 people in the building at one point. Russell Coker set up a great stage show. Johnny Hargrove from Lafayette, Louisiana gave a great talk on Youpon bonsai. His Youpon bonsai were excellent. This should spark some interest in finding those landscape Youpon treasures. The line for lunch formed quickly and nothing was left to take home so it must have been good. The lunch interview with T and Van was wonderful. We have to do more of this.
Text Box: Fred Morales workshop on small Boxwood was filled to capacity with 20 people working. Every Boxwood was good enough to go in a show ,some as early as next year for those who did less than a drastic pruning. Lots of smiles were on the faces of the workshop members when they finished their trees.
Larry and Jean Jongewaard brought over their excess pot inventory to sell. Lots of great pots were available. Allen Roach had just about anything you would need at his vendor tables. Van and Fred had some plants and pots available.

Text Box: Joe Day had stone slabs. The new event” the Kingsville Boxwood design contest” was lots of fun with Leo Fortner’s pot landscape getting the most votes. Patrick LaNasa’s received the second most votes. The Joe Day lecture on Boxwood was the afternoon event. It was wonderful to see all the ACBS members doing a great clean up as soon as the event ended. A wonderful, smooth running event. Thanks everyone. It was great. Joe Day
Text Box: Your pick of “the best bonsai” isn’t everyone’s pick. When we ask people to vote on what bonsai they like the best, every bonsai in each show got votes. Sure there was a winner but at times it wasn’t a bonsai that all the “bonsai experts” picked. The point of this is-everyone should show a bonsai just to allow the public to appreciate a wide range of bonsai species and styles. We will need set up people for Friday May 13th.

Text Box: Bonsai in for the most part is a person with their bonsai in a yard working very hard often in weather that is far from wonderful.
The mall show is a day to enjoy watching people get great joy looking at your bonsai. All bonsai in a show are appreciated by the public. Every bonsai strikes a cord with someone. I know. I’ve watched people looking at bonsai for 25 years.

Text Box: Your bonsai at Bel-Air Mall by 8 A.M., people to stay with show to watch the bonsai, a clean up crew. You don’t have to spend all day at the show. A few hours would give someone else a chance to go eat lunch , run a important errand or shop for a bit. Please e-mail Joe Kuhn and tell him what trees you could show and what time you are available to help with the above duties.
