Text Box: You walk into a yard and see a great bonsai growing in dirt , yes, dug from the edge of the garden out back, what gives? The September ACBS meeting will be about bonsai soil. Joe Day, Fred Morales and Russell Coker will be the main speakers but anyone can jump in and add any information you think important to the subject. All you can teach is the logic of soil. This much I believe 1000 percent, good soil in your bonsai containers is you best friend. Joe Day will cover bonsai soil overall view. Fred Morales will talk about the types of soils that work best with tropical bonsai. Russell Coker will talk about soil mixes used in Japan. Covering all of this at a monthly meeting will make for a fast moving meeting. We will start the program on time. To catch it all try to arrive before 7:P.M. Text Box: ACBS Fall Auction Sept 17 Text Box: It ‘s a night of serious fun. Serious because without the funds we get from the Fall Auction ACBS would cease to exist. The expenses to do our normal events for a year are about $2,000. Dues wouldn’t cover the cost of publishing this newsletter. The fun is just looking over all that is offered Text Box: for bid, enjoying the food and drink, bidding serious and bidding to bid up an item to get some interest going. Auction night is also a time when you get to visit with other bonsai artist from the gulf coast bonsai clubs. The Auction location is roomy so you can bid, eat and catch up on all the new and old Text Box: news. It’s a family and friends affair.
