Text Box: The days of cheap gas are becoming a distant memory to all. As the price of energy continues to rise the price of everything else will move upward at the same pace. All who are of wage earning age will know this truth “ wages are the last thing to go up” As the amount of spending money available for things not absolutely needed gets smaller the decision of “where” and “ what “ gets the money becomes a serious topic. I have traveled to many bonsai events , some great, some not so good. Those , not so good, I didn’t mind because it gave me a chance to see the other bonsai artist. The bottom line was, cheap gas made travel to and from a small part of the expense of going. That is no longer true. It’s nice to see old friends but justify that with the sucking sound of all your money flowing out of your wallet. When bonsai artist make the trip to attend a bonsai event presented by the Azalea City Bonsai Society whether or not they have to pay a fee to attend we must be certain they leave knowing it was worth every cent it cost to make the trip. We must have high quality events that impress not only our visitors but also ourselves. We have done this in the past just because we have had great ACBS members that were dedicated to presenting the best. Now we must have high quality events for a very practical reasons. To justify the cost impact of attending any event. To keep the quality high we will make detailed plans. We will ask the membership to invest in the equipment that we must use to present high quality presentations. We will ask membership to help with all the events in ways that best suits their time and talent. The meeting and newsletters will be full of news about upcoming events starting with this months Ben Oki visit news.
