We have events planned for the summer into the winter. The floods, tornado’s and fires that have burned, blown and washed away the dreams of people far away from the coast already this Spring remind us that we live at the whim of nature. Your can drive away from what you know but you never drive away from the possibility of disaster. It is important to remember that the New Orleans disaster was a flood caused by a hurricane. I say this not in any way to lessen what has happen only to remind us that in Mobile most of us do not live in a very low area and we do not have a huge lake to our backside held back by and earthen dam that runs thorough our neighborhoods. We mostly live were we will have to endure the wind. It is possible to minimize the damage winds can cause if we prepare ahead of time and have a plan of what we need to do...when it needs to be done…. If you are going out of town let members know so those who stay in town can get to your bonsai and water them. If you have so much damage that you can’t clean up and take care of your bonsai, let another member who can manage take on your bonsai. Better out of your yard than out of your life… Most members could look after another couple of bonsai so it’s possible to split them up among members. Lives are more important than bonsai but… that shouldn’t be the choice you have to make. If you plan now you can both protect your life and the lives of family and take steps to protect the lives of your bonsai. Joe Day
