Bonsai clubs and societies do not have this power. We only have the power to make opportunity available and to encourage members to take advantage of the opportunity. ACBS events offer a wider range of opportunity to show bonsai, learn bonsai, create bonsai, teach bonsai, and promote bonsai. Within our membership these opportunities are used by only about 20 percent of the members that attend our meetings. Request to the membership as to how we can expand the opportunities to get more members to use the services just never works. Those who request new services are the same people who never use these services. After 25 years I firmly believe members just tell you what they think is needed for the other members, not for themselves. What would be nice is if the leadership of ACBS knew what services each member actually needs. Change for change sake is never advancing anything. It’s just changing. If we are to change ACBS in any way we need to make changes based on how they will benefit the membership. ACBS is just a name we give to the combined membership. As we go forward into our 06/07 year we will continue to offer to all members opportunities to enjoy every aspect of bonsai. I certainly enjoyed all our past year of events and the opportunity of share the work and enjoyment with that group of members who manage to make time to make these events possible. Joe Day
