Text Box: The best ever. Great bonsai at every turn. All the bonsai were in great shape and show ready. The many, many species and styles were a pleasure to just walk around and enjoy. Traffic looking at the show was steady all day.
Home made bread and other sweets, great coffee and cold water was set up in a very nice relaxing place to sit and talk. The chance to visit with all the other artist and enjoy the bread and coffee made the time fly. Joe Kuhn, Joe Day and Patrick LaNasa car pooled over.
I took pic’s of all the bonsai at the Tri-Cities show. Much to Text Box: busy to do anything with them now but hope we can transfer them to disc and show them on the computer at an ACBS meeting. Pictures of bonsai are great but nothing beats being at the show and getting a close look at the details.
ACBS will host the Tri-Cities show in 07. We will try and continue making the show a bit higher quality each time. After looking a the Fort Walton effort we have our work cut out for us. After the Bel-Air Mall show last weekend it’s certain that our current backdrops have lived a long and great life but must be retired.
Text Box: ACBS has in storage a great set of show backdrops. They will need to be painted and also it will take a crew of good strong members to set them up but within our membership we have these assets. We will set up a work day in the fall to get thing rolling.
It’s the end of our show season but it’s time to look over your collection and start thinking about the bonsai you would like to show at Tri-Cities 07.

                   Joe Day
Text Box: Lowell has some very good bonsai and some of the best bonsai material I have ever seen in on yard. The food was great. Johnny Hardcastle and his wife took us out for supper so we could catch up on bonsai talk.
We had a nice group for the bonsai school on Saturday. Some were new to bonsai so the questions were many and helped make the talk interesting.

Text Box: The Louisiana Bonsai Society ask me Joe Day to come up and do an all day school featuring Trident bonsai in the morning and a bring you own bonsai workshop in the afternoon. Xuan and I stopped for lunch with great friends of ACBS, Lowell Tilly and his wife in Baton Rogue. We had lunch at a very nice Vietnamese restaurant. A quick tour of Lowell’s yard and bonsai was fun.

Text Box: The lunch mostly cooked by Johnny’s wife was fantastic. It was worth the drive up.
I hated having to leave as soon as the afternoon workshop was finished but I had Sunday things I had to do in Mobile. The trip back was smoother than I figured it would be. I estimated we would get back at 9 P.M. We pulled into the yard at 8:55 P.M.
Great bonsai people are fun to visit and this was definitely a fun trip with good food.
                                     Joe Day

Text Box: Joe Day, Leo, Joe Kuhn, Patrick LaNasa, Russell and John. Lee were on hand all day to talk with the many people who stopped by to talk bonsai. As with all bonsai shows the interest was spread across all the bonsai on display. When the quality of bonsai is high the public has an appreciation of every size, species and style.

Text Box: We handed out lots of flyers to a wide range of people. A few long past ACBS members came by to see the show and talk. Some expressed a desire to get back involved when life allows.
The mall show signals the end of show season and the beginning of summer. Joe Day
Text Box: A great selection of size, species, and styles of bonsai were displayed to a never ending flow of viewers at Bel-Air Mall. Thanks to Patrick LaNash we also had beautiful accent plant and thanks to Leo Fortner we had fantastic bonsai stands. Set up Friday went smooth so we were ready to place bonsai into the show early Saturday morning.

I have a great Juniper article on fertilizing Juniper written by Don Corley. It will be in the next ACBS issue. I would like to use this July issue to include more information about growing Juniper in our area.
