This tree now is in the collection of Leo Fortner. With it’s initial great form , Ben’s styling and Leo’s ability as a bonsai artist this is going to be a wonderful bonsai is a very short time. Text Box: Fred Morales will present our February 05 ACBS program. The program creating bonsai / rock combinations is a very technical program. Over the years Fred has created combinations of trees and rocks with both tropical and non-tropical material. The degree of success you have creating a tree, rock combination bonsai depends on your knowledge and how careful your are with the material. If you plan to have a tree/rock combination you need to see this program. These tree/rock combinations are a challenge both to create and to keep alive and developing further . Fred will show you not only how to create but how to care for these unique bonsai . As always if you have a root/rock combination bonsai and you want some advice on how to improve or take better care of your creation bring it to this meeting. Text Box: Ben Oki Workshop Review Text Box: Thanks to all for a great workshop. The material was excellent. Thanks to Joe Kuhn the location was also excellent. I didn’t count the number of people attending but the room was full . Watching a great bonsai artist work on excellent material is a pleasure. Text Box: We had 11 trees In the workshop. With a couple years work all 11 could be show trees anywhere. Most everyone pitched in, cleaned up, put up and moved out in a smooth rhythm so we all got home at a decent hour. Thank you to Larry and Jean Text Box: Jongewaard for bringing Ben over from Pensacola. Xuan and I took Ben to Patrick LaNash’s house Friday morning for his Mississippi Gulf Coast Bonsai Society workshop Friday night. The Ben Oki Workshop is always a great time. Joe. Text Box:
